A Tale of The Ghouls

Tale of the Ghouls

If you’re in the mood for a creepy story then keep reading. This is the Tale of the Ghouls! I transcribed the following story from the third tale in the horror anthology movie “The Monster Club” (1981) staring Vincent Price. The third tale by far was my favorite. I’ll set it up for you. The main character arrives in a mysterious village and after almost being attacked by the weird villagers runs to find refuge in an old abandoned church. Inside he finds an old journal that tells this frightening Tale of the Ghouls. Continue reading

Learn about Monster Genealogy at The Monster Club

The Monster Club (1981)

Look just because Halloween is over doesn’t mean we still can’t have some spooky fun right? Cool! So let’s talk a little about monster genealogy. You didn’t know this was a thing? Well neither did I until I saw the movie The Monster Club (1981). It stars the great Vincent Price as a pleasant elderly vampire named Eramus. John Carradine (the patriarch of the famous Carradine family) plays Ronald Chetwynd-Hayes a successful horror writer. Continue reading

Horror Movie Roundup: The Fly, Carnival of Souls, The Omen

Ghoulie Guide Horror Movie Roundup

On any given weekend in October I’m usually rushing to build some kind of Halloween prop for my yard haunt. You know what really motivates me to work? Sounds weird but I love listening to either ambient Halloween music or a creepy old horror movie playing in the background on TV. It really gets me into the “spirit” of the season. Last weekend I watched several movies and decided to start doing a new series for the Ghoulie Guide called Horror Movie Roundup. In each roundup I’ll discuss the cool, creepy and just plain weird parts three horror films. In this debut episode we’ll talk about The Fly (1986), Carnival of Souls (1962), and The Omen (1976). Lego Celebrates Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary

Ghostbusters Lego

Can you believe it? The movie Ghostbusters is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year! I know, right? Where did the time go! As part of that celebration, Lego just released an awesome Ghostbusters Ecto-1 toy set. So cool!!! As I was casually browsing at the Puzzle Zoo toy store in Santa Monica, I was shocked to see this set sitting up on the shelf next to an equally cool Back To The Future Lego set. I don’t usually get compulsive when it comes to shopping (especially for toys), but all rules were broken when I saw this set and I bought it on the spot. I had heard a rumor about a Ghostbusters Lego toy awhile back, but never thought it would actually go to market. Well I’m glad it did! As I started researching how this set came to be, I was surprised to find out about other awesome sets that haven’t made it yet and a whole system where anyone creative enough to build something can bring their Lego creation to life for others to buy! Happy Birthday Bela Lugosi

Bela Lugosi

He is the most iconic actor to ever play the role of Dracula, so today let’s celebrate Bela Lugosi’s 122nd birthday by learning a little more about him. I think it’s safe to say that he is everyone’s favorite Dracula, with those piercing eyes, tightly combed black hair, long cape, and thick Hungarian accent. To watch him onscreen is to witness a person who exudes a suave and debonair style like no one else. Women found him irresistible, with that exotic accent and gentleman like presence. It seemed he had it all, money, fame, women, and yet the very thing which gave him his ticket to the top acted as a catalyst that sent him spirally down in his later years. Let’s learn a little more about him. Continue reading
