Since I have such a long and mind-numbing drive to work I decided to listen to podcasts again. You might have guessed I’ve been researching the ones that are creepy or themed around Halloween. Well I found one that I’d consider a cut above the rest. I highly recommend you give a listen to the Lore Podcast written and narrated by Aaron Mahnke. Each episode is a true life scary story. That’s what makes them so creepy! Mahnke does a ton of research then crafts each story into an incredible tale. He has a way of telling stories that just draws you in as a listener and then holds your attention. It’s really pretty remarkable. When I listen to it, I feel like I’m listening to a spooky campfire story.
As of today there are over 40 Lore podcast episodes you can listen to. One of my favorites is Episode 6: Echoes which discusses the dark history of the Danvers State Hospital (also known as the State Lunatic Hospital) in Massachusetts. You’ll flip out when you hear about the freaky stuff that happened there. Another good episode is Episode 8: The Castle which tells the story of H.H. Holmes, one of the first documented serial killers of America. Holmes built his own version of a funhouse to hide his victims. These episodes are really creepy and really good! And they are all historically true! Well mostly. But you can be the judge.
The Lore podcast is so successful they are taking it to the boob tube! That’s right his episodes will be adapted for TV and are expected to air sometime mid-2017. If it’s anything like the podcasts the TV show will be awesomely entertaining. I suggest you give the podcast a listen to!
